With the start of the Jewish High Holidays later this week, more than 500 volunteers delivered food to senior citizens on Sunday.

Jewish Community Services of South Florida runs the annual distribution of more than 500 gift baskets to Holocaust survivors and older people who can’t leave their homes.

Rosh Hashanah begins Friday night after sundown, and traditionally includes a festive meal with sweet ingredients such as apples and honey.
