Miami’s Community News: Helping Miami-Dade Seniors Combat Food Insecurity

Food insecurity remains a growing challenge across Miami-Dade County, particularly among older adults living on fixed incomes. Rising grocery prices, housing costs, and transportation barriers have made it increasingly difficult for many seniors to access nutritious meals. For vulnerable older adults, food insecurity impacts far more than hunger, it affects health, independence, and overall quality of life.

Addressing food insecurity is a core part of Jewish Community Services of South Florida’s (JCS) mission. Through programs including JCS Delivers, Kosher Home Delivered Meals, Senior Ride, Congregate Meals, and the JCS Kosher Food Bank, JCS helps ensure that older adults have access to nutritious food, social engagement, and supportive services that allow them to age with dignity.
