Anonymous Student Letter to JCS
Jewish students living in Miami-Dade County can turn to JCS for help in accessing interest-free loans from the Jewish Educational Loan Fund for financial aid in attending full time accredited post-secondary educational programs. The letter below is from a student who was able to continue her education, thanks in part to a JELF loan administered by JCS.
Dear JCS,
My semester has been an unbelievably rewarding experience career wise. Last semester, I was selected to be in a special division of my major called Art Specialization. I was one of 25 students to be selected to solely focus on my illustration skills this semester, and to have my portfolio displayed in the AAS fashion design exhibition.
It was an amazing experience to work closely with the top illustration professors at my school and grow tremendously as a designer. I displayed four major collections illustrated in the exhibit, and the feedback I got was positive which was really rewarding. I will receive an Associate’s degree by August 2015, and move onto my Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design with a minor in Art History.
I am very excited for the future: this summer interning at an unbelievable company, and then studying at FIT in Milan at the Politecnico Di Milano. It will push me out of my comfort zone and help me focus on who I am as a designer- giving me an edge by having a global perspective of the industry.
Things are moving and shaking and I am looking forward to what is yet to come! Without your help, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
