Where Nutrition Meets Compassion

Kosher Meals for Homebound Seniors

JCS’ Kosher Home Delivered Meals Program provides pre-made, frozen Kosher meals to homebound, nutritionally-insecure seniors across Miami-Dade County who are unable to prepare meals for themselves due to frailty.

Clients range in age from 60 to over 100, with many living on fixed incomes. Often, clients are below the poverty line of $15,560 annually for a single person. Many live alone, making this program a vital source not only of nutritious meals but also of social connection, regular wellness checks, and compassionate human contact.

By providing kosher meals tailored to meet cultural and dietary needs, the JCS Kosher Home Delivered Meals Program enables homebound seniors to age in place with dignity. Our dedicated team offers individualized, culturally sensitive care, helping ensure each client remains safe, nourished, and connected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who qualifies for Kosher Home Delivered Meals?

All seniors in Miami-Dade County who are homebound and nutritionally insecure are eligible. Meals are not income-based, meaning clients do not need to meet a certain income threshold to qualify.

Do seniors need to keep kosher to qualify?

No, seniors do not need to keep kosher or be Jewish to qualify. Client intake is based on need. However, all meals provided to clients are kosher.

How often are meals delivered to seniors?

Deliveries are made Monday through Friday, excluding Federal and Jewish holidays, directly to clients’ homes. Meals are provided in packs of 5, 7, or 14, depending on the client’s needs, which are assessed at time of intake.

What does kosher mean?

A kosher meal adheres to Jewish dietary laws, which include restrictions such as not mixing meat and dairy, consuming only permitted animals, and ensuring meat is processed and prepared according to specific religious guidelines. It involves not only the ingredients but also the methods of preparation and handling.

Can family members apply on behalf of a senior?

Yes, family members and caregivers can contact JCS to request services. Please call JCS Access at 305.576.6550 from 8:00 am–5:00 pm, Monday through Friday or fill out the online JCS Access form.
