The community recently performed a mitzvah as 520 local volunteers of different ages delivered Passover food baskets to more than 600 homebound seniors throughout Miami-Dade County.

This took place during the annual Matzah Mitzvah Passover food distribution, presented by Jewish Community Services of South Florida and the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. The volunteers assembled the Passover food baskets, which included holiday cards made by children and flowers, at Temple Israel of Greater Miami and then delivered them to homebound seniors and Holocaust survivors throughout the county.

“Every year I’m gratified that we keep getting a bigger and bigger turnout as people do what is an incredible mitzvah with great food, good care and now beautiful flowers for our seniors who don’t get an opportunity very often to interact with the community,” said Fred Stock, JCS ‘ president and chief executive officer.
