While Jewish social service agencies throughout South Florida continue to serve their communities during the new coronavirus pandemic, their annual Passover food delivery programs for homebound seniors have been altered during these challenging times.
The cancellation of Jewish Community Services of South Florida’s annual “Matzah Mitzvah” program in Miami-Dade County due to the coronavirus means the organization’s lonely seniors clients, many of them without family members who live locally, will not receive the traditional visits from volunteers who not only deliver them Passover food packages, but also engage in meaningful conversations with them. The seniors are still receiving Passover food from JCS.
