Dancing, socializing with their peers and interacting with student volunteers were meaningful moments for 140 seniors, including Holocaust survivors, at Jewish Community Services of South Florida’s recent Rosh Hashanah party in North Miami Beach.

JCS’ Two’s Company, a volunteer service that pairs Holocaust survivors and other elderly individuals throughout Miami with a friend, hosted this party for the seniors.

Fred Stock, JCS’ president and chief executive officer, said. “So many seniors are isolated, and the more we can get them out to events like this, the better it is for them.

To me that’s the most important thing, the opportunity for them to socialize and to be with their peers and to have a good time. At the end of the day, when you’re 85 years old, you look forward to things like this. You look forward to getting out of your house and look forward to participating in social activities.”
