Because September is Hunger Awareness Month, Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS) wants to bring attention to three of its services that fight food insufficiency in Miami-Dade County.

1. The JCS Kosher Food Bank, South Florida’s only Kosher Food Bank, offers critically important food items and other daily necessities to more than 660 families. In addition, the staff evaluates clients’ overall needs and arranges for other support services such as career guidance, temporary financial assistance and emotional support.

2. The JCS Meals on Wheels program annually delivers 150,000 nutritious kosher lunches to 650 home-bound Seniors.

3. JCS offers hot kosher meals at its five senior meal sites. These community-based locations also provide a friendly environment for socialization and recreation.

Nearly 50 million people in our country are hungry. Help JCS meet the needs of those less fortunate in our community.
