Mrs. V was referred to Jewish Community Services home delivered meals program by her daughter who is her primary caregiver. Mrs. V was previously living with her grandson in Central Florida, but due to declining health had recently moved in with her daughter. Mrs. V ‘s daughter has been trying to get all of her mother’s health related conditions under control by managing medications and arranging all medical appointments. Since her daughter has a full time job, she has found it extremely difficult to assist her mother with such things as personal care, meal preparation, cleaning, and food shopping. Given this situation, Mrs. V was referred for LSP Respite services which provided her with a home health aide a few times a week to assist with personal care and light cleaning and provided the necessary respite to her daughter since she felt overwhelmed by her caregiving duties. Mrs. V has great difficulty walking (due to the amputation of two toes) and wanted to be able to go out of the home with her daughter from time to time. JCS Senior Meals Program provided her with a light weight wheelchair so that she would have the ability to go out. Mrs. V is being served by the JCS home delivered meals program which has made it easy to warm a nutritious meal as she is unable to cook or use the stove due to memory issues. Mrs. V and her daughter have been appreciative of all the services JCS has given them.
