Sexual Violence Intervention
Specialized therapy services are available to child, adolescent, and adult survivors of sexual abuse and sexual assault. This specialization is rooted in the Journey Institute programming that was founded in Miami-Dade in 1983 to enhance treatment services for victims of childhood sexual abuse and their families.

Counseling is critical to survivors who, if left to suffer in silence, may develop difficulties in the areas of cognitive, emotional, sexual, social and psychological development. Survivors are empowered to heal and grow toward fuller and more satisfying lives – including breaking intergenerational cycles of abuse. Support is also provided to non-offending caregivers of sexually abused children.

Violence Prevention Education
Violence Prevention Education programs provide education and activities to build life skills necessary to make positive choices and overcome environmental risk factors. Leveraging partnerships in the community, primary prevention education includes prevention of child abuse, sexual violence, domestic violence, bullying and teen dating violence and abuse.
