Created by LivingWorks, ASIST, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, is a 2-day highly interactive, practical, and practice-oriented workshop for caregivers who want to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. The workshop will discuss methods and provide tools necessary to encourage the continuation of life – no matter what challenges are faced. Learn how you can prevent the immediate risk of suicide by joining the over one million caregivers who have participated in ASIST!

One hour talk on suicide to engage the community raising the awareness of suicide and the help out there for those at risk of suicide.

Mandatory Reporting:
A one to two hour presentation on Mandatory reporting of abuse, homicide ideation and suicide ideation and steps to be taken. A review of clients rights to confidentiality.

Active Listening:
Active listening is one to two hour training on communication techniques used in Rogerian counseling. Active listening requires the listener to understand, interpret, and evaluate what they hear. The ability to listen actively can improve personal relationships through reducing conflicts, strengthening cooperation, and fostering understanding/insight.

Motivational Interviewing (MI):
In this course, you will learn about the motivational interviewing approach to helping people change and see the crucial importance of matching interventions to individuals’ stages of change in order to improve the likelihood of success. In addition to examining the principles of MI, you will learn specific skills and techniques that will support the primary goals of MI, which include establishing rapport, eliciting change talk, and establishing commitment language.
