It’s Simple and Fun!
Steps to Create Your Own Food Drive
Organizing a food drive is a powerful way to bring people together while making a meaningful impact in our community. Whether you are leading a small neighborhood effort or coordinating a larger group at a school, workplace, or place of worship, a successful food drive starts with a clear plan.
The steps below will guide you through choosing a coordinator, selecting items or a fun theme, deciding when and where to collect donations, and partnering with JCS for support and resources—making it easy to turn your compassion into action and help stock the shelves for those in need.
Register Your Food Drive
Register your food drive with JCS to receive a Food Drive Kit filled with everything you need to get started, including customizable flyers, posters, and a collection box.
Sign up today and let us help you turn your generosity into a successful, community-powered effort.
Step 1
Designate the Food Drive Organizer.
This person will be responsible for registering and coordinating all aspects of the food drive to complete it successfully.
Step 2
Determine the items you would like to collect.
Download a list of commonly needed pantry items or customize a theme for your food drive.
Snack Attack!
Collect healthy snacks like raisins, trail mix or granola bars
Pasta Patrol!
Collect Mac and Cheese, boxed pasta, and sauce
Cultural Collection!
Collect foods from your favorite ethnic selection or from your original homeland
Happy Hygiene!
Collect toiletries such as tooth paste, mouth wash, soap and shampoo
Step 3
Decide where and when your Food Drive will take place.
A Food Drive can take place anywhere (neighborhoods, schools, places of worship, places of business or at your own home). Food Drives that last several days are more successful because they provide ample time to receive contributions.
Step 4
Collect and arrange pick up or drop off.
When Your Drive is complete, you may either request a donation pick up or drop the donations off at the JCS Kosher Food Bank. Students who organize and participate in the food drive will earn community service hours.
