JCS Leads Crisis Outreach Efforts

JCS Coordinates with 63 Nonprofit Agencies to Demand Full Restoration of County Funds for CBOs

In response to a proposed budget by Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners that eliminated all funding for community-based organizations (CBOs) in the upcoming fiscal year, JCS took swift action to lead the opposition. JCS convened and coordinated with over 63 legacy CBOs serving Miami-Dade County to form The Advocacy Collective, a unified coalition dedicated to urging the Mayor and Commissioners to fully restore this critical funding.

These CBOs serve as a vital safety net for the county’s most vulnerable residents. Until full funding was reinstated, The Advocacy Collective launched an aggressive outreach campaign, partnering with nonprofit agencies, faith leaders, and media outlets to maintain public attention, amplify community impact, and show unwavering solidarity.

Through strategic collaboration, grassroots advocacy, and a strong public relations push, The Advocacy Collective successfully influenced the Mayor to reverse course and propose full restoration of funding for the legacy safety-net CBOs.
