The Most Powerful Message of the Grammy’s

Two of the most powerful moments of Sunday night’s Grammy Awards had nothing to do with music, dresses or even jewelry. The underlying message was about stopping domestic abuse.

First, a surprise televised address aired by President Barack Obama, where he discussed his anti-violence campaign.

Then Brooke Axtell, a writer, activist, performance artist and survivor of domestic abuse took the stage. Axtell delivered a poem about her own experience with domestic abuse.

“Authentic love does not devalue another human being. Authentic love does not silence, shame or abuse,” Axtell said.
