Teacher Tammy Goldring and the 2nd Grade Class of the Rabbi Alexander S. Gross Hebrew Academy on Miami Beach presented Coordinator Bonnie Schwartzbaum with an envelope containing $435 that they raised for the JCS Kosher Food Bank. This was one of the most amazing projects she had ever seen, especially from such young students. ”What a great class,” Bonnie said. ”Today I have seen the future of the Jewish people, and it is good!”
They also gave Bonnie a letter which read:
Dear JCS Kosher Food Bank, Our second grade class had a restaurant for one day called Matheriffic. We made food and had parents and students in the school make reservations to come to our restaurant. We made this restaurant as a culmination of our math curriculum. We learned to add and subtract with money, use fractions and units of measurements, among some of the math concepts. During the restaurant, the parents and other visitors paid for the food that they ate. We made over $400 and we chose to give the money we made to charity. We chose the JCS Kosher Food Bank as the charity to give our money to because we feel your charity is very special. We believe you are doing a tremendous service to the Jewish Community. Thank you for all you do and for coming to our class to speak to us today. We are planning to make you our special charity for many years to come. Sincerely, Tammy Goldring and the Second Grade Class
