JSA Principal Contributes for Chanukah and Year Round
Microwave and toaster ovens, fleece blankets, adult diapers, Chanukah toys and grocery gift cards are just some of the on-going gifts homebound seniors in the JCS Meals on Wheels program have been receiving thanks to Gabriela Rascovsky, Hebrew and Judaic Studies Principal at Jacobson Sinai Academy (JSA), and her husband Adolfo “Fito.”
With these gifts, Morah Gaby and Fito are making sure there will no longer be seniors eating defrosted meals they cannot warm up. They have also been grocery shopping for a 95-year-old client on a weekly basis. Every month, JSA students serve lunch to seniors at a JCS Congregate Meal Site and collect food for needy families through Kids for Kosher Food Bank. As Morah Gaby said, “The school is aware of the needs of others and knows what we can do to make people happy.”
Starr Stein and Daughters Make it a ‘Star’ Luncheon
Approximately 40 older adults who participate in our Senior Nutrition Program at the JCS Congregate Meal Site in North Dade recently enjoyed a traditional Chanukah menorah lighting, chocolate treats and personalized home-made cards created by 6-year-old Daisy and 7-year-old Jade, daughters of Starr Stein.
